Posture and movement
analysis using 4D spinal measurement
Accurate diagnostics for better health and improved
mobility
At our private practice, Dr Beate Helgers, we offer you a comprehensive postural and movement analysis that combines state-of-the-art technology with medical expertise. The 4D spinal assessment provides non-contact, radiation-free, real-time data on your posture, movement patterns and load distribution – both statically and dynamically.
What is 4D spinal measurement?
This procedure is based on an optical measurement system using projected light and high-resolution cameras. It creates a three-dimensional model of your spine, which also enables dynamic analyses whilst you are moving, for example whilst walking. The measurement is completely painless and is particularly suitable for the early detection of postural weaknesses or incorrect loading.
Indications and objectives
Our analysis is aimed at patients with:
- chronic back or joint pain
- postural problems or muscular imbalances
- unexplained musculoskeletal complaints
- a need for rehabilitation following injuries or operations
The
aim is to objectively identify the causes of your symptoms and to develop specific treatment and exercise programmes based on these findings.
How does the movement analysis work?
Medical history and setting
personal goals Our experienced specialists will first take a detailed history of your medical background, symptoms and individual goals
Static assessment
: Whilst standing, posture, spinal curvature, shoulder and pelvic alignment, as well as leg axes and foot pressure distribution, are analysed. This data provides insight into any postural issues and muscular imbalances.
Dynamic Assessment – Gait Analysis
Movement patterns are analysed on a treadmill at walking speed. Changes in posture and load are recorded during specific movements, such as walking or bending. Small markers attached to key points such as the knee, hip and foot enable us to precisely track and assess your movements. In this way, we analyse your gait at walking speed, recording posture, joint positions and movement patterns.
Assessment and treatment recommendations
The result is a comprehensive analysis of all joint positions at every point in a movement sequence, visualised in a 4D model. On this basis, we draw up a personalised treatment or exercise plan, which we tailor precisely to your needs in consultation with you.
We allow approximately one hour for each posture and movement analysis to ensure you receive in-depth support and a detailed assessment.

What are the benefits of posture and
movement analysis?
Identifying muscular imbalances:
- Poor posture and pain are often caused by an imbalance between muscles that should be working together (e.g. agonist and antagonist muscles). Using 4D spinal analysis, we identify these imbalances in order to develop targeted corrective measures.
Improving the quality of movement:
- Through dynamic analysis, we can optimise your movement patterns so that you can move more efficiently, pain-free and safely – whether in everyday life, at work or in sport.
The
basis for your personalised training programme:
- The results of our analysis are incorporated directly into your personalised training plan, for example in:
- Strengthening exercises for weakened muscles
- Stretching exercises to relieve muscle tightness
- Mobility exercises to promote a healthy range
of motion
